Abstract
In the present study an intermolecular reductive Schiff base formation from nitro derivative and derivative of benzaldehyde are carried out in the presence of iron powder and dilute acid. Schiff base synthesis is usually acid-catalyzed and usually requires refluxing the mixture of aldehydes (or ketone) and amine in polar organic medium The Schiff base complexes of Mn (II) and Ni (II) are characterized and screened for anti-bacterial studies.
